Braving Up in the
Classroom

The following examples were created by middle and high school teachers in Anaheim Union High School District, and illustrate the breadth and diversity of their enactments of radically inclusive teaching in their subject areas.  Some of the teachers below have been working towards linguistically expansive pedagogies for years; others were in their first year of experimentation with braving up.

As you explore the curricular and pedagogical approaches on these pages, we encourage you to reflect critically upon the examples and student work samples embedded throughout.  Which of these approaches will you integrate into your own practice? How are teachers building community, scaffolding confianza, and assessing complexity? Where do you see opportunities for continued growth?
